A man has been arrested and charged with harassing Australian actress Sophie Monk via social media.
The Date Movie beauty and one-time singer turned to police for help after James MCCabe allegedly sent her a series of death threats aimed at her family.
He was tracked down to his home in Tasmania and was taken into custody on 19 December (13).
MCCabe, 30, stands accused of bombarding Monk with up to 150 sexually explicit and threatening posts on Twitter.com over the past five years in an attempt to "save" her, but his reported behaviour became too much to bear after the star moved back to Australia from California earlier this year (13).
Monk, who has landed a new job Down Under as a Dj on 2Day Fm, reveals the cyber stalking has caused her to live in fear, telling The Sunday Telegraph, "When I am in Australia, I sleep with the light on."
MCCabe, who was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia, also used his Twitter account to reach out to rocker Joel Madden, the twin brother of Monk's ex-boyfriend Benji, writing, "@JoelMadden wat do u do bro wen u get charged wiv stalking sophie monk (sic)".
