As many analysts had predicted, The Smurfs 2, which had a disappointing debut domestically, blue away the competition overseas. The Sony animated-and-live family film brought in $34.6 million in its second weekend to bring its total to $110 million. (It has earned $46 million in North America.) It edged out Warner Bros.' Pacific Rim, which tallied $33 million -- but $21.7 million of that amount came from China alone, where its total now stands at $76.4 million, a Warner Bros. record in that country. Meanwhile, the Brad Pitt zombie flick World War Z finally debuted in Japan over the weekend, where it took in $3 million. That put its worldwide total at $502 million and made it the biggest hit in Brad Pitt's career.
