The Danish actress - who is best known for playing Sarah Lund in 'The Killing' - was diagnosed with the disease in December 2012 but chose not to go public with her condition until after she had received treatment and admits it was ''challenging'' trying to maintain the facade of a normal life with her children Bror, 13, and Gudrun, 10, who she has with ex-husband Jacob Thuesen.
She said: ''I chose not to go public, which sounds like, Oh well, she didn't call the paper' but it was actually very challenging.

She plays Governor Odegard, who's busy opening an ice hotel carved out of the side of a glacier in Svalbard. However, when the crimeless community is rocked by a grisly murder, detective DCI Morton (Tucci) is flown in to restore calm and solve the mystery.

Sky Atlantic's big bet for 2015 is a new 12-part crime series starring Sofie Grabol - previously of the classic Scandi-drama The Killing. Fortitude, which begins at the end of the month, focuses on an isolated community torn apart by a violent death. No one from its tiny population is ruled out.

Danish actress Sofie Grabol has turned down the chance to perform in London's West End because she struggles to find childcare for her two young kids.
The Killing star is a single mum after going through a divorce, and as a result she has to be picky about her projects.
Grabol admits she has been offered a number of theatre roles, but had to put her family first.
She tells London's Evening Standard, "I've been offered theatre here but I have a seven-and a 10-year-old. If you have children you'll know how hard it is."
