Sofia Vergara has been named highest-paid American TV star by Forbes magazine with a year's earnings totalling approximately $19 million.
The 'Modern Family' actress has knocked reality star Kim Kardashian to second highest-paid woman after her exploits with Cover Girl and Pepsi ads alongside her Kmart clothing line which apparently earned her a not-to-be-sniffed-at $7 million and other Spanish language adverts for Burger King, Comcast and State Farm. The 40-year-old has also bagged bucket loads of cash for recent film appearances in 'The Smurfs', 'New Year's Eve' and 'The Three Stooges'. Vergara is also the co-founder of the production company Latin World Entertainment which collected a revenue of $27 million last year (2011).
Although being knocked off the top spot, Ms. Kardashian was close behind with $18 million coming from her family's TV deals for 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' and her new perfume 'True Reflection' as well as her clothing line that she set up with her sisters. The rest of the top five highest-paid TV stars in America were 'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria with $15 million, talk show host Bethenny Frankel on $12 million and Kim's younger sister Khloe Kardashian Odom who tied with comedy actress Tina Fey with $11 million.
