Sofia Vergara is "grateful" to have large breasts.

The 'Modern Life' star - who has a 34DD chest - hated her huge boobs when she was going through puberty and wanted to have them reduced.

However, her mother Margarita talked her out of it and now she is relieved she kept her eye-popping bust.

Speaking in the October edition of Self Magazine, Sofia - who grew up in Columbia - said: "I wanted surgery. I told my mom, 'As soon as I'm older, please take these boobs away.' She said, 'Sofia, shut up. When you're 18, it will be different.' I was like, 'Why would I want these huge t**s?' I'm a 34DD. It's hard to dress. No matter what I wear, I look like a stripper.' But luckily mom said no and now those double Ds have really paid off. I'm grateful I have them, and honestly, they've helped me a lot in my career. And I've always felt sexy."

Although she is now happy with her large breasts, the 38-year-old beauty accepts her stunning looks and figure limit her career options.

Sofia - who plays feisty Colombian housewife Gloria Delgado-Prichett in Emmy Award-winning comedy series 'Modern Family' - thinks it would be interesting to play a serious character but accepts she is typecast as a sex bomb.

She added: "For every 100 roles that come out for another actress, there are two that fit somebody like me. I mean, I cannot play a scientist. I know who I am. I know how I look. I know how I sound. I'm not going to tell my agent, 'Book me for 'Schindler's List 2'.' "
