Writing on her WhoSay page, Sofia told fans "Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart.”
The actress blamed the couple’s busy working schedules for the split, explaining, “We have been having too many problems with having to figure out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore.” She then went on to say they “are still very close” but they believe the split is the best thing for them at the moment.

The Columbian born actress is best known for her role as Gloria in ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ and is currently shooting an as-yet-untiled buddy movie with Reese Witherspoon. She can also currently be seen alongside Jon Favreau in the comedy Chef.
She began her relationship with Loeb, an heir to a successful brokerage firm, in 2010. The couple’s engagement was first announced in July 2012, but Vergara had told Ellen Degeneres last February that she’d been too busy to "even plan anything."

Sofia had previously been married to her childhood sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez, with whom she has one son, Manolo, now 21. The couple divorced in 1993, before Sofia moved to America to begin her acting career.
