Rapper Snoop Dogg has helped 1,500 families in need have a happier Thanksgiving, by handing out turkeys in his home city of Los Angeles. At the second annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, the rapper was joined by the Mayor of Inglewood, California James Butts and other city officials has he handed out the turkeys.

Speaking to TV channel KNBC-TV, Mayor Butts said: "Snoop Dogg took pictures with over 800 people at the event. We had a tented area for seniors to sit in, and the first thing he did was go over to take pictures with everyone there.”

After taking photos with the seniors, Snoop made his way over to the line of over 800 people and took pictures with each of them. Butts said he first met Snoop at his newly constructed headquarters for 1500 or Nothin' in Inglewood last year. The rapper had told him he was looking to get involved in giving back to the community, so the mayor suggested the upcoming turkey giveaway.

Earlier this month Snoop launched his own cannabis company, ’Leafs by Snoop’. According to the rapper it will sell "the finest quality cannabis one could imagine.” Speaking on the company’s website Snoop said: "Wherever my musical journey has taken me around the world, it’s beautiful to see how chronic leafs are a common source of peace, love and soul that connects us all,"

At the company’s launch event in Denver, Colorado, Snoop told the crowd: "Since I’ve been at the forefront of this movement for over 20 years now, I’m a master of marijuana. 'Leafs By Snoop' is truly the first mainstream cannabis brand in the world and [I am] proud to be a pioneer.”
