Organisers behind a music festival series headlined by electronic DJ/producer Skrillex have been forced to axe a planned tour stop in Canada after failing to secure the required event permits.
The Full Flex Express Tour was scheduled for a stop at Kinsmen Park in St. Albert on 20 July (12), but city officials have turned down promoters' request for permission to stage the gig due to safety concerns.
Councillor Cathy Heron says, "The City of St. Albert just decided that we don't have the capacity at this time to really monitor and provide a safe and secure venue for that large of a crowd."
Officials were particularly worried about the request to sell alcohol at the concert, which was expected to attract more than 10,000 revellers.
Heron adds, "We just couldn't imagine how we could handle it if anything went wrong."
The tour stop, which will also feature Diplo, Pretty Lights and Grimes, is expected to be moved to nearby Edmonton instead. It will take place on the same date.
