HUNDREDS QUEUE FOR McCARTNEY Hundreds of SIR PAUL McCARTNEY fans lined the streets outside a Hollywood record store in an attempt to witness their idol's intimate gig inside last night. The queue boasted folding chairs and sleeping bags to make the wait more comfortable. Overwhelmed staff at Amoeba Records Hollywood were scheduled to give out 200 entry passes to the special in-store performance by the former Beatle on Wednesday morning, but decided to distribute them late on Tuesday evening to prevent fans from having to wait in the line overnight. A spokesperson for the store says, "When we saw that more than 200 people had already lined up, we decided to give them out early so they wouldn't have to spend the night on the sidewalk." McCartney performed before an audience of 300 at the Sunset Boulevard shop at 7.30pm local time. An impromptu gig by the singer two weeks ago at the Highline Ballroom in New York City sparked talk of a tour, but his spokesman Paul Freundlich refutes the reports. (SH/WN/)
