Rock legend Sir Paul McCartney returned to his native Liverpool, England on Wednesday (25Jul12) to lead a graduation ceremony at a performing arts school he co-founded.
The Beatles icon opened the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (Lipa) in 1996, to provide talented youngsters with the knowledge and resources needed to pursue a future in the arts and entertainment industry, and he headed back to the school to help the Class of 2012 celebrate its achievements at its annual commencement ceremony.
MCCartney was also on hand to present Lipa Companionship honours to top choreographer Matthew Bourne and Grammy-nominated musician and video director Kevin Godley in recognition of their career achievements.
The superstar was accompanied to the event by his wife Nancy Shevell.
