Sir Paul McCartney and Hugh Cornwell are set to join 2,000 other musicians in a bid to create the U.K.'s biggest ever band.
The Beatles' legend's former publicity chief Geoff Baker wants to attempt a record-breaking feat at a seaside town in England in September (13) to mark what would have been Buddy Holly's 77th birthday.
He plans to assemble 2,000 music lovers to play Holly's track Rave On! and set a record for the largest number of guitarists performing at the same time.
Former The Stranglers frontman Cornwell, who has been performing as a successful solo artist since the 90's, has already expressed an interest in joining the stunt, dubbed 'Guitars On The Beach', and MCCartney has told Baker he wants to fit it in around his current tour dates.
Baker tells the BBC, "Paul's on a world tour, so I was surprised to get a letter from him saying he's checking to see if he can fit in the Guitars On The Beach gig."
