Sir Paul McCartney has allegedly asked his wife-of-four-years Heather Mills MCCARTNEY for a trial separation amid reports of bitter feuding. The former BEATLES star, who flew back from a break by himself in France on Friday (12MAY06), has reportedly been taking stock of his stormy relationship and decided time apart is the best hope of their marriage surviving. British tabloid the Daily Mirror reports the LET IT BE rocker told a pal, "We really can't go on like this. It's not fair on either of us. Enough is enough." Another source adds, "Paul hasn't come to this decision lightly, but felt things couldn't carry on as they were. "Paul is desperately hoping it will give them the space to work out whether they want the relationship to continue." His spokesman has refused to quash reports of a marriage crisis, saying, "We have absolutely no comment." However, animal rights activist Mills MCCartney recently slammed speculation the relationship is in jeopardy, insisting the pair were spending time apart so she could rest after having surgery five weeks ago (APR06).
