Sir Paul McCartney left the audience at his Saturday (17SEP05) show in Tampa, Florida, fearing for his life when he fell through an open trapdoor on the St Petersburg Times Forum's stage.
The former beatle tripped and fell through the gaping hole onto his grand piano - the impressive instrument was meant to rise up onto stage when McCartney performed new song FINE LINE.
Despite injuring his elbow in the five foot (1.5 metre) tumble, McCartney saw the funny side and stood on the piano stool so he could talk to the audience.
He joked, "There's a big hole in the stage and I just fell into it. Well, we were expecting this to happen and it happened. I don't care."
He quipped the audience got "extra value" for their money.
