British rocker Paul McCartney has become an honorary professor in Russia.
The BACK IN THE USSR singer and his wife Heather Mills attended a ceremony yesterday (22MAY03) at the ST PETERSBURG CONSERVATORY - Russia's oldest musical institution - where the 60-year-old former beatle was named an honorary professor.
VALENTINA MATVIENKO, President VLADIMIR PUTIN's regional envoy, told McCartney, "Your music showed that there is no music for the elite, but music for everyone."
McCartney says of his visit Russia, "It's my dream come true. I heard many stories of Russia and imagined Russian people being mysterious and cold, but now I know more."23/05/2003 19:38
