British acting veteran Sir David Jason is having an amazing week after receiving his knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II yesterday (01DEC05), only a day after wedding his long-term love GILL HINCHCLIFFE.

The A TOUCH OF FROST star, 65, and Hinchcliffe, 45, wed in an intimate ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel on Wednesday (30NOV05), in front of 12 family and friends, including their four-year-old daughter SOPHIE MAE.

The next day, Jason - whose real name is DAVID WHITE - and his bride met the Queen at her London residence Buckingham Palace.

Jason says, "The Queen said, 'You've been in the business a long time.' I said I hope I hadn't offended her at any time and she said she didn't think so.

"I hope it means I have not got to retire. I suppose this is the final award you get. I shall act until I drop. I just want to keep doing it and making it fun."

During his 40-year film and TV career, Jason has starred in OPEN ALL HOURS (73-85), PORRIDGE (75-77), Only Fools And Horses (begs81) and THE DARLING BUDS OF MAY (91-93).

In 2003, he was awarded a Bafta fellowship by the British Academy Of Film And Television Arts.
