Punk singer Siouxsie Sioux is thrilled to be a mentor for feisty female rockers like GARBAGE star Shirley Manson, but is disturbed she has suddenly been accepted by the world, after years spent being a rock outlaw.

The Siouxsie And The Banshees frontwoman won the coveted Icon Award at the Mojo Honours List in London last month (JUN05), but as a punk famed for her anarchic shock tactics - such as wearing swastikas - she didn't know whether to be honoured or insulted by the music industry gong.

She says, "I wasn't quite sure how to take it. I think once I start to get accepted I must be doing something wrong.

"I like the fact that more females are getting involved in music. I love Shirley Manson.

"I think she's incredibly intelligent, creative and fantastic looking."
