A Place To Bury Strangers Keep Slipping Away Single

Having spent the past two years doing their utmost to convince all and sundry that their reputation as being the loudest band in New York tells only half the story, A Place To Bury Strangers more recent exploits on this year's 'Exploding Head' opus suggests they've invested as much time in the tune department as they have exuding their infamous total sonic annihilation penchant.

More importantly, it's paid handsome dividends, as 'Keep Slipping Away', one of many scorchers off said album ably demonstrates. Sounding like a close cousin to The Cure's 'The Exploding Boy', 'Keep Slipping Away' could have been written at any point over the previous three decades. Resonant guitar textures chime in and out, subtly augmented by Oliver Ackermann's breathy vocal making this possibly A Place To Bury Strangers most radio friendly (did I really say that?) four minutes to date.

Add the slightly organic remixes by South Central and Richard Fearless not to mention James Chapman & Maps' more dancefloor orientated reworking and you've the sound of a band whose metamorphic capacities hold no boundaries. Winner!

8/10
