Irish singer Sinead O connor has been prescribed six weeks of medication after pleading with her Twitter.com followers to put her in touch with psychiatrists in the Dublin area following a public meltdown.
The Nothing Compares 2 U star, who has long battled mental health issues, went online on Wednesday (11Jan12) to ask followers to contact her with details of professionals who could urgently help her.
O'Connor admitted the backlash from her on/off romance to Barry Herridge, who she split from after three weeks of marriage only to reunite days later, had sent her into a tailspin.
She returned to the site on Wednesday afternoon to thank fans for their advice, which helped her land a prescription for her medication. O'Connor also informed them she had been to casualty to receive treatment for a fractured ankle.
In a series of posts on her Twitter page, she writes, "spoke to some great psych docs u all put me on to, gonna meet a few.. but had (to) go (to) hos (hospital) as fractured ankle (Good work funny ways) so they wus (were) fab help too.. but u (are) all amazing to send numbers and ideas and i love u all so much for that and am feeling much better."
O'Connor insists the new prescription is "just for 6 weeks, not permanent... just to lift (me) out of difficult plae (place). 6 weeks is all. low doses. nothing dumbing."
And she isn't letting her dramatic day impact her work schedule - committing to continue a series of phone interviews to promote her new record.
She adds, "me go do phoners now for album. cant let s**t stop me working."
