The Men in Black 3 star was eager to take on a role alongside The Wrestler actor and was excited to hear he would be sharing scenes with Rourke.
He says, "I've always been a fan of Mickey's. I'm working with Benecio (Del Toro) right now and we talked about how, when we were growing up, Mickey was someone you always looked up to and I've known him forever... Then finally when (director) Robert (Rodriguez) said, 'Do you want to do this?'... I was like, 'Of course I'll do it and do I have any scenes with Mickey?' (and he said), 'Absolutely'."
The pair has reunited for the Sin City sequel, which they unveiled in Los Angeles on Tuesday (19Aug14), and they entertained the crowd during a bash at the city's Roosevelt Hotel after the red carpet screening.
Willis played harmonica and sang the blues as Rodriguez played guitar, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

The former Bond girl portrays temptress Ava Lord in the new film and admits she put her faith and trust in her director when he asked her to bare all for revealing scenes.
She explains, "He came to my trailer and swore to me that I would look amazing with the right lighting and the right shadows. You always feel quite vulnerable when you're naked on a set and you feel quite silly. With the green screen around you in your tiny thong, it's not that sexy. You trust their vision and it looks stunning. It's not vulgar and it's not indecent. It's not realistic. It's beautiful, I think."

Brolin, who will play Dwight, joins the project a day after Joseph Gordon-Levitt was added to the cast, which includes returning stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Jaime King and Rosario Dawson.

The 24 star was recently hired to replace Duncan following his death in September (12), and while Haysbert insists he has a deep respect for The Green Mile star's work with the character Manute, he is keen to show fans that he too can do the job justice.
Haysbert tells Wenn, "I knew him and we got along very well and he was a really great guy. His presence is there (in the film) most certainly; he originated the role but I'm a different actor and I will put my own stamp on it. I definitely have a reverence for what he did with the role.

The star, who appeared in 2005 film Sin City, is set to reprise her role as Nancy Callahan, a dancer who gets mixed up in the criminal underworld.
On Sunday (26Aug12), she revealed she has been enjoying target practice at a firing range in California, posting a picture on Twitter.com showing her holding a gun and smiling as she poses for the camera.
In a message alongside the snap, Alba writes, "What a way to start the day - training for a movie is sorta (sort of) fun."
