Simple Minds rocker Jim Kerr feared for his son's welfare when his former wife Patsy Kensit wed Liam Gallagher in 1997, because of the hedonistic lifestyle the couple were then leading.

DON'T YOU (FORGET ABOUT ME) singer Kerr believed his child James, born during his four year marriage to the Lethal Weapon 2 actress, was at risk when Kensit left him to marry the Oasis wild man.

Kensit and Gallagher divorced three years later in 2000.

Kerr, 46, says, "When someone remarries and lives that kind of lifestyle it is obviously worrying, but although you can shout and bawl as much as you like, you still, as the father have very little say.

"I did see James during that time and he seemed all right.

"I didn't doubt that Patsy and Liam - who recorded a song for him called LITTLE JAMES - loved my son, even when they were going through horrible times themselves.

"James has always seemed strong, self-confident and loved.

"And whatever my feelings for Patsy at certain times, I have to give her full credit for the way she has brought him up."
