Charity bosses in the U.K. have thanked stars including Simon Pegg, Lily Allen and Ruby Wax after they helped raise almost $460,000 (£290,000) for good causes in an auction on Twitter.com.
Officials at British charity Comic Relief organised the TwitRelief event to coincide with their annual fundraiser earlier this month (Mar11).
Celebrity users of the microblogging website were urged to offer lots for the sale, and dozens joined in, including Allen, who offered the chance to spend a day with her at a sporting event, and Wax, who promised to take the highest bidder along to her next Botox session.
The auction closed on Sunday (20Mar11) and Comic Relief bosses announced on Monday (21Mar11) that the TwitRelief event had raised a total of $457,600 (£286,000).
