The British funnyman is in talks with movie bosses to reprise his role as Benji Dunn in the upcoming action movie which will be directed by Brad Bird and see Tom Cruise portray his iconic character Ethan Hunt, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Although the movie still hasn't officially been the given the go-ahead, Bird has reportedly been auditioning actors for other roles this week and hopes to start filming the latest installation in September.
Tom is producing the film with J.J. Abrams and Paula Wagner and The Script has been written by Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum.
The Hollywood superstar had been set to produce the movie for a while, but it was only confirmed he would be bringing Ethan back to the big screen last week.
Vice chairman Rob Moore recently admitted: "We are absolutely excited about having Tom Cruise star in this movie."
