British actor Simon Pegg is not surprised he has come under fire for landing a role in the upcoming Star Trek film - but still hopes to win over the franchise's fans.
Pegg has been cast as Scotty in the new movie and has received criticism from sci-fi fans who believe he will ruin the role - originally played by late actor James Doohan - with his comedic background.
But Pegg is desperate to win them over.
He says, "I am not surprised by their reaction. I think that's because they immediately thought I was there to undermine the franchise having had a background in comedy, but that's not what it's about at all."
