The wannabe rapper could pull off a major upset this year, but Simon Cowell says she’d need a miracle.
The music mogul later explained his controversial decision on spin-off show ‘Xtra Factor’, where he also revealed he doesn't believe Honey can win the show.
Simon Cowell saved Honey G, but doesn't see her as a potential winner
“You know what, you have to make a call in the moment,” he explained.
“And I think, if we’re being honest with each other, watching the show last night, I can see a clear, three or four people who’ve got a real shot.
“I don’t think Ryan would have gone further… We do the sing-off to see A) who’s best and B) who wants it the most. Whatever you do, you’re gonna be unpopular.”
“But the truth is, unless Honey performs a miracle, she’s not gonna win this show. I don’t think she can,” he continued.
“I think that the front-runners last night, they absolutely stepped up. And they were really, really good. So, look, I’m sure Twitter’s gone mental, but that happens.”
The 35-year-old rapper has been the subject of controversy throughout her time on the show, with some accusing her of being “fake”, others branding the act “racist” and the series being hit with more “fix” accusations.
Speaking on ITV's Lorraine on Monday morning, Ryan Lawrie, who lost his place on the show to Honey the night before, gave his opinion on the rapper.
“To be honest, I personally use Keith Lemon as a good example,” he said, referring to Leigh Francis' creation who hosts ‘Celebrity Juice’. “I think it's a character she has.”
The 20-year-old added that he didn't really get to know Honey during their time living together in the ‘X Factor’ house, saying that she “keeps herself to herself”.
