Mantecore, the Tiger who attacked during a 2003 Siegfried & Roy show, is fondly remembered.
Roy Horn has paid tribute to his recently deceased pet Tiger, Mantecore, who many will remember for hitting headlines in 2003 after he attacked the celebrity illusionist during one of the famed Siegfried And Roy shows in Las Vegas. The 69 year-old performer has always insisted that the tiger attack, which inflicted life-threatening injuries upon him, was an accident.

As unlikely as it may seem, what was billed as the final on-stage appearance of Siegfried And Roy -- at a charity show in Las Vegas Saturday night -- was taped for a one-hour TV special that will air on the ABC news program 20/20 next Friday. The show, in which Roy Horn and Siegfried Fischbacher perform an eight-minute illusion that features Montecore, the tiger that mauled Horn in 2003, is likely to attract big ratings just as it is likely to attract new controversy over the issue of "infotainment." On their website, the German-born duo said, "Elizabeth Vargas, co-host of 20/20 will be in charge of the piece, which will feature Horn's remarkable recovery." In a report about the Las Vegas performance, the French news agency Agence France Presse observed "Horn walked haltingly but steadily, remarkable in and of itself for a man who was not expected to survive" the tiger attack.

Legendary Las Vegas illusionists Siegfried And Roy are fuming over a new tell-all book that accuses them of abusing their stage animals and indulging in group sex orgies.
The Secret Life of Siegfried and Roy has been written by former employees Jim Mydlach, Jimmy Lavery, Louis Mydlach and Henrietta Tiefenthaler.
The writers claim the duo harmed the white tigers they used in their act and frequently cruised beaches for gay sex.
A publishing insider tells American tabloid the National Enquirer, "The book says that they became great friends with (late pianist) Liberace, joining him on manhunting expeditions. They all had the same taste in sex partners, with a preference for young men and stagehands - and pornography.

Movie star Michael Caine has confessed he is a secret die hard fan of camp Las Vegas magicians Siegfried And Roy.
The Oscar winner saw the German pair early in their careers when they were performing in Paris, and subsequently followed them around the world - until Roy Horn was mauled by a tiger three years ago.
He says, "I tell you who did fascinate me, Siegfried and Roy. A long time ago I was in Paris and I saw them, they were just starting out. I think they make lions and tigers disappear but they had German Shepherds and pussy cats at that time, they couldn't afford the big cats then! But they fascinated me and I always followed them until just a few years ago. And it's quite fascinating what they do."
