LATEST: Rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne has begged burglars to return her wedding rings and a sapphire band celebrating her successful battle with colon cancer.

Intruders broke into the The X Factor judge's Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, mansion on Monday (22NOV04) but were caught by her husband Ozzy, who bravely held the robber in a headlock and dangled him out of a window nine metres (30 feet) above the ground, until the thief struggled free and escaped with precious gems worth more than $3.6 million (GBP2 million).

And Sharon wept last night (23NOV04) as she made an emotional plea to the thieves, reminding them Ozzy could have snapped the masked robber's neck, but spared his life.

She says, "Ozzy had the robber's life in his hands but let him go. I hope that man will remember that and return the three things that mean so much I can never replace them - my engagement ring, wedding rings and survival ring.

"I bought that ring the day I found out I was going to live. I didn't know for how long. It was to celebrate my survival - but also so I would have something to live to my two girls if I should die too soon."
