Rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne's book Extreme has become the best-selling autobiography since records began, in 1998.

The British talent show judge and wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne has sold a record-breaking 600,000 copies of her revealing life story, topping the previous record held by soccer star David Beckham and his book MY SIDE, by over 100,000.

Ghostwriter PENELOPE DENING says, "Sharon had strong opinions about how she wanted it to be written."

Book editor ANTONIA HODGSON says Extreme has been bought "by women for women".

She adds, "It has the pace of a thriller."
