Sharlto Copley had to scrub his face with sandpaper after wrapping scenes in Maleficent as the make-up artists used a high-strength glue to attach his false beard.
The District 9 star plays Sleeping Beauty's father King Stefan in the Disney epic, and sports full facial hair for his scenes.
However, rather than grow a beard himself, he decided to don a fake, but it kept falling off during his fight scenes.
The film's team of make-up artists eventually offered to stick the beard to his face - a move the actor regretted at the end of filming.
He tells Eonline.com, "I found out that there is this glue that you can stick a beard on with it. It was my fault though. I complained about the fact that the beard was falling off all the time during fight scenes. They said, 'We have this glue that we can guarantee it was never come off' (sic) - and it did not!
"When we (got) back to the make-up trailer, they had to sandpaper my face to get the beard off. They warned me how hard it was going to be to get off, but I didn't realise how hard."
