Shania Twain doesn't ''regret'' her husband cheating on her with her friend.

The 'Still the One' hitmaker was left devastated seven years ago when Robert 'Mutt' Lange - the father of her 13-year-old son Eja - left her for pal Marie-Anne Thiébaud and she admits she wishes she'd never met her former friend.

Asked what she would say if she ran into Marie Anne, Shania - who is now married to Marie-Anne's ex-husband Frédéric - said: ''I'd say, 'I wish I'd never met you'.''

''I think there are just some people in life you would say, 'I wish I hadn't met this person or I would have been better off not ever knowing that person'.

''But I can't say I would be better off because I think I learned a lot from all of that. I don't regret it.''

The 49-year-old singer recalled having a panic attack when she first saw her friend after the affair was exposed and admitted she didn't know what to do.

Speaking on 'Watch What Happens Live', she said: ''You know, you panic in those situations. I didn't know what to do.''

The 49-year-old singer completed a two-year Las Vegas residency in December 2014 and admitted it was a ''hill'' she needed to get through to boost her confidence before considering working on a new album as it would be her first music without her producer ex-husband on board.

She said: ''I needed to get over a different hill in my career without him before tackling an album.

''Now that I'm through Vegas and that was success, I built a lot of confidence.''
