The creator of Sex And The City believes her show has been such a phenomenon because it highlights the fact women think about sex just as much as men do.

Writer Candace Bushnell thinks her four famous characters are "revolutionary" for putting the sexual exploits of women in the public eye.

She declares, "It is quite revolutionary - this idea of single women surviving on their own without men. People say, 'Oh, but the women are just thinking about men all the time', and yes, they are, but I don't think there's anything negative about that, and men think about sex all the time.

"Just ask any man how often he thinks about sex, you really are going to be shocked. It is every nine seconds. Sorry."
