Battle For The Planet Of The Apes Review

Terrible
At least it is only 83 minutes long.

I guess Arthur Jacobs and Paul Dehn decided that no one would notice that this final chapter of the sage was actually a remake of the second one, Beneath The Planet of the Apes. This time around, though, the radioactive human mutants would not be telepathic.

The President's Analyst Review

Good
It's hard to envision a comedy that reeks more of the '60s than The President's Analyst, with James Coburn enlisted as the head shrink to the U.S. president, with ridiculously disastrous results.

Coburn takes the job, only to realize that it comes with as much pressure as the president himself is under. Not only is he on call 24/7, he is faced with the proposition of being the sole recipient of the secrets of the world, which obviously he can't share with anyone.

Real Genius Review

Extraordinary
Ah, the '80s. It was the semi-golden decade of decadence and self-importance. It was the last time when what the average Joe likes determined what the movie studios made, not the other way around. Consequently, it was the last decade for really funny movies. In the 90s, if you wanted to make something side-splitting, you had to go Independent.

In the '80s, however, there are no shortage of movies that are just plain fun. From the Ghostbusters films to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, to the off-kilter dark comedy/horror April Fools Day, the 80s had no shortage of movies that made you laugh. It was the only time that comedies had scripts instead of actors that make up their own scripts, and, as a consequence, the movies of the '80s were actually funny.

Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes Review

OK
This fourth entry into the Apes series is by far the darkest and most violent entry in the series. The good-natured tone of the previous Apes movies is replaced by this ugly tale of slavery, totalitarianism, repression, and revolution.

The year is 1991. The world is a police state where everyone wears black turtlenecks and black leather jackets. The police carry big sticks and wear black patent jackboots. In 1984, all dogs and cats were wiped out due to a mysterious plague brought down during a routine space mission. Apes have since replaced those furry domestic animals, first as pets and then as slaves to the upper society classes.
