A few weeks ago the Selena Gomez Hindu controversy made news after the singer wore a bindi – a Hindu religious accessory – during a performance. This time she seems to have gotten it right though, by leaving it out entirely. Prominent Hindu leaders praised Selena’s choice not to use the bindi in her video for Come and Get It. After the star sported the religious adornment during her performance at the MTV Movie Awards, Gomez received a lot of criticism on Twitter for the cultural appropriation, but even worse were the comments from Hindu leaders.

"It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed," Universal Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed said last month. "Selena should apologize and then she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions."

Now he seems pleased with Gomez’s choice for the video and even offers her a helping hand in her education, should she wish to learn more about the religion. He suggested in a press statement, quoted by E!News, that Gomez "seriously explore Hinduism," noting that "he or other Hindu scholars would gladly assist, if asked." Well, we’re not sure if Gomez will take him up on that offer, but one step at a time is good for now. Even without the bindi though, the video is worth a watch. Check it out below.
