As the world breathes a collective sigh of relief over Barack Obama’s re-election, some of the world’s biggest celebrities have tweeted their feelings about the news. Lady GaGa, Katy Perry and Puff Daddy were among the first to show their support.

After posting a rather bizarre tweet which we can only assume was the result of over-zealous, excited tapping on her smart-phone (it read “AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHRHRGRGRGRRRGURBHJB EORWPSOJWPJORGWOIRGWSGODEWPGOHEPW09GJEDPOKSD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0924QU8T63095JRGHWPE09UJ0PWHRGW”) Lady Gaga composed herself and wrote something a little more comprehensible, saying “I JUST GOT OFF STAGE IN COLUMBIA!! CONGRATULATIONS MR. PRESIDENT ‪@BarackObama We are so proud to be American tonight! YES!!! YES! YES!!”

Fellow pop star Katy Perry was a little more restrained in her own message of congratulations, re-tweeting Barack’s own victory message and adding “The people have the power! Proud to stand by you for 4 more years.” P Diddy posted a photo of himself on Instagram with Barack Obama back in 2004, where Diddy reckons he predicted Obama would become the first black president. “The 2nd time around feels even better” he commented.

Of course, not everyone was happy that Obama won last night (November 6 2012). Donald Trump has been a vocal supporter of Mitt Romney’s right-wing politics and posted a string of angry messages on his Twitter page, including “Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us” and “The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.” Though, presumably, he wouldn’t have any issues with ‘the system’ if Romney had won? You can’t please everyone, eh?
