The rapper and producer - known by his stage name of Puff Daddy - has signed up to Ivan Reitman's Kevin Costner-starring National Football League (NFL) movie, along with Rosanna Arquette, David Ramsey and W. Earl Brown.
Combs - whose previous film credits include 'Get Him to the Greek' and 'Made' - will play a character called Chris Crawford, but details as to what his role in the feature is still remains unknown.
Real-life NFL players have also agreed to take part, with sportsmen involved including Demario Davis, James Brewer, Ramses Barden, Zoltan Mesko and Stephen Hill.
Produced by Summit and OddLot Entertainment and described as a ''dramedy'', 'Draft Day' will follow the day in the life of team Cleveland Browns' General Manager (Costner).
In a statement released by the companies, Costner's character ''must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.''
Filming began today (25.04.13) at Radio City Music Hall in New York during the NFL draft.
