Sean Bean was arrested yesterday on suspicion of harassment (May 9, 2012), the Daily Mail reports. It is alleged that the Game of Thrones star was taken to Holborn police station in London, where he was questioned over claims that he made abusive phone calls and sent abusive text messages to his former wife, Georgina Sutcliffe.
The 53 year-old actor had his fingerprints taken at the central London station and a Scotland yard spokesman told the press "A 53-year-old man attended a London police station for a prearranged interview yesterday. He was bailed pending further inquiries. He was arrested on suspicion of harassment." Sutcliffe is Sean's fourth wife. They met in 2003, when she was the bar manager in a West End theatre, where Sean was playing MACbeth. They married in 2008 and divorced two years later following a "tumultuous marriage." In 2010, a decree nisi was granted at the High Court "on grounds of irreconcilable differences." Bean has previously said, when asked about his failed marriages "Of course I believe in love despite four divorces. There is nobody who doesn't believe in love. But marriage - that fits some people but obviously not me. I love doing just nothing in my free time. I love to be with my kid in Yorkshire. I love it there. Working in a garden calms me down."
Sean Bean married for the first time in 1981, to Debra James, his childhood sweetheart. They divorced in 1988 when he moved to London to pursue his acting career. Two years later he married Melanie Hill, and they had two children together. They divorced in 1997, the same year that he married Abigail Cruttenden, his Sharpe co-star. They had a daughter the following year, but divorced in 2000. Sean's representatives were not available for comment last night.
