SCRUBS star Zach Braff has signed up to direct, rewrite and star in the romantic comedy SWINGLES.
The film will also star Cameron Diaz and follows a single guy, played by Braff, who meets up with Diaz's sharp-tongued character in order to meet women after both are dumped by their newly-loved-up best friends.
It was originally written by Duncan Birmingham and has already been rewritten once by Jeff Roda.
The project will be Braff's first big screen appearance since FAST TRACK in 2006 and the first time he has taken on the challenge of directing since 2004's GARDEN STATE, which he also starred in alongside Natalie Portman.
It was recently reported that SCRUBS has been renewed for another series, after much speculation that the eighth would be its final outing.
ABC has stated that Braff will return for six transitional episodes which will hand the show over to a new line-up of several regular cast members and some of the new characters introduced in the most recent series.
Returning stars are thought to include DONALD FAISON and John C McGinley, while SARAH CHALKE is reportedly in discussions to make appearances in the transitional episodes.
