Rockers Saving Abel have scrapped a handful of concerts on their U.S. tour to allow diabetic frontman JARED WEEKS time to recover from a recent stay in hospital.
The group took a break from the road last month (Nov09) when the singer was admitted for medical observation after suffering "a nasty mix of diabetic shock and the flu", according to the band's publicist.
Saving Abel returned to the road on 23 November (09), but the tour came to a halt again on Monday (30Nov09) when they were forced to pull out of a gig in Maine as Weeks had yet to regain his full strength.
A statement from the band's spokesperson explains, "The tour resumed last Monday, but after one week of performances, the prudent decision to give Weeks the opportunity to have an insulin pump inserted into his body immediately has been made."
As a result, Saving Abel have cancelled all shows scheduled for the next two weeks. They will resume their live shows on 18 December (09), when they are due to play in Nashville, Tennessee, and ring in 2010 with a concert in Memphis, Tennessee on New Year's Eve (31Dec09).
The Californian rockers were defiant in their intention to play the venue once again.
