‘American Horror Story’ star Sarah Paulson has expressed a desire to play Donald Trump when the FX anthology series turns to the subject of the American election in its upcoming seventh season.

The 42 year old actress won an Emmy last year for her portrayal of real-life figure Marcia Clark in ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson’, the ‘American Crime Story’ spin-off of Ryan Murphy’s ‘AHS’. Now, it seems she’s intent on doing the same for another real-life person – and this time, an even more divisive one!

“I'd like to play Donald Trump,” Paulson told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet at PaleyFest when asked which of the cast’s regular ensemble should portray the 45th POTUS. “If Donald Trump is going to be in a character in it, why not? That's an acting challenge to be sure.”

‘American Horror Story’ was given the green light for two more seasons back in January this year, and it was confirmed that both Paulson and Evan Peters would be returning as regular cast members.

A month later, the show’s creator Murphy intimated that the seventh season would be dealing with the upheavals in politics and society surrounding the 2016 election battle between Trump and the defeated Democrat, Hillary Clinton.

She continued: “Whatever the angle he's going to take, it will be unique, which will make it new, which will make us interested and make our eyes and ears open probably in a way that we hadn’t thought about.”

“[It] is going to be about the election that we just went through. And what I’m interested in doing is not just the obvious, single-minded point of view but rather express all sides of that equation,” Murphy said after Paulson had spoken to reporters.

“And then all of the stuff that I’m developing now is going to be about illuminating and highlighting people who don’t have a voice in our culture — people who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away.”
