The actress is going into the fashion business
Sarah Jessica Parker is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw, and Carrie Bradshaw, despite being written as a strong, female character, is best known for her love of shoes. So it’s fitting that Parker is starting a line of shoes.
"In a silly way, I think it's what people have expected of me because of Carrie Bradshaw," Parker told Vogue.com. "Because I got to play that role, I wore a lot of shoes," Parker added. "And by default I learned an enormous amount. It's hard to walk away from that." Pumps and flats – We’re reliably informed they’re called - will cost between $200 and $300, and will be available exclusively at Nordstrom early next year. Bags will cost under $700. That’s under, in case you thought they were really expensive or anything. "We're putting new colors together that people don't typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet," Parker explained. "And in terms of bags, thinking about the period of the seventies into the eighties, what those women were carrying, taking away the bells and the whistles and hardware and really making it about the bag."
She might know about shoes, but her little son doesn't!
Given that her character in Sex in The City was the world’s leading expert on shoes, this is a celebrity business move that actually makes sense. Brad Pitt and Angelina Joile going into wine and furniture? Not so much.
