Sarah Jessica Parker (born March 25th, 1965) is an American actress and producer, with a portfolio of television, film and theatre performances. She is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw, on the hit TV show Sex and the City.
Performing Career: As a young girl, Sarah Jessica Parker trained in singing and ballet, soon being cast in the Broadway production of The Innocents.
She and four siblings appeared in a revival of The Sound of Music, and Parker went on to the new Broadway musical Annie - first in the small role of "July" and then in the lead role, playing the role for a year.
In 1982, Sarah Jessica Parker was cast as the co-lead of the sitcom Square Pegs. The show lasted only one season before being cancelled, but Parker's performance was critically well-received. In the three years that followed, she was cast in four films - the most significant of those being Footloose in 1984 and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, co-starring Helen Hunt, in 1985.
In 1986, Parker appeared in the cult classic Flight of the Navigator, a Disney science fiction film.
By the early 1990s, Parker's career was gaining momentum. She appeared in L.A. Story, Honeymoon in Vegas, co-starring Nicolas Cage, Hocus Pocus and opposite Johnny Depp in the critically acclaimed movie Ed Wood.
Before the year 2000, Sarah Jessica Parker would later go on to feature in Miami Rhapsody, Mars Attacks!, The First Wives Club, The Substance of Fire and Til There Was You.
Sex and the City: In 1998, Sarah Jessica Parker landed a role on the TV show which would become an instant hit, seeing her profile soar overnight.
In 2004, Parker won an Emmy award for her lead role as Carrie Bradshaw (after five consecutive losses).
After Sex and the City ended in 2004, many thought rumours of a film would never leave fan sites and gossip columns, but in 2008, the film would be released and a sequel is potentially in the works.
Personal life: Parker was romantically involved with actor Robert Downey Jr. from 1984 until 1991. They met on the set of Firstborn.
On May 19th, 1997, she married actor Matthew Broderick.
The couple's first child, son James Wilkie Broderick, was born on October 28th, 2002. He was named after Broderick's father, the actor James Broderick. His middle name is that of author Wilkie Collins, an author Broderick and Parker admire.
E! News confirms that prior to her appearance at the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star, she had her signature mole removed. Regardless of photographic evidence, she denied it had been removed.
It has been reported lead star Sarah Jessica Parker has signed up for the third sequel
For Sex and the City fans this will either be the very best or the very worst news as Carrie Bradshaw herself has reportedly signed up for Sex and the City 3. This - the third big screen outing for the ladies of New York - may be met with unease after the savaging the second sequel received from critics.

The star confesses to buying from thrift stores in her early years.
She might be decked in designer labels nowadays, but Sarah Jessica Parker isn't afraid of reflecting on her younger days as an eager thrift store shopper. She couldn't afford the sort of wardrobe she has now when she was just starting out as an actress, but she sure did the best that she could.
Sarah Jessica Parker used to be thrifty with fashion
For anyone who wants to be as stylish as the former 'Sex and the City' star, she has some valuable advice for you. That is: go thrift shopping. Everyone knows thrift stores are a great place to pick up bargains, even if some people are put off by the idea of buying clothes that have already been worn in by a stranger.

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda may not be done just yet.
Sarah Jessica Parker has said that a third Sex and the City movie is “fairly nearby.”
Parker gave the big tease during an interview with CBS’s Jane Pauley on Sunday. The actress is currently promoting her new HBO series ‘Divorce’, but can’t escape questions about the future of Carrie Bradshaw.
Will there be a third Sex and the City movie?
Parker and Downey Jr dated for seven years from 1984 to 1991.
The couple dated in the late eighties, when Downey was dealing with drug and alcohol addiction and Parker says the experience of caring for her boyfriend at the time helped her prepare for parenting.

The actress says she used to question if Carrie’s friends were just made-up.
Sarah Jessica Parker has shared her own crazy ‘Sex and the City’ fan theory, in which Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are just made up characters in Carrie’s head.
Speaking on the Nerdist podcast, the actress said that she often wondered if Carrie’s girl friends were real, or if they’d just been invented for her newspaper column.

Parker is back on HBO, but her new show ‘Divorce’ is distinctly different from ‘Sex and the City’.
Sarah Jessica Parker is returning to TV in October, with new HBO series ‘Divorce’. The series follows Frances, a wife and mother who falls out of love with her husband and is looking for a fresh start. But according to Parker, Frances is unlike any character the actress has played before, especially Carrie Bradshaw.
Sarah Jessica Parker's new character isn't anything like Carrie Bradshaw
Speaking to TV critics in Beverly Hills Saturday, Parker said: “From the moment I read the pilot, I thought Frances was her own person. She was so distinct from not only Carrie, but any other character I have ever played.”
Check out the teaser trailer for the upcoming show.
Sarah Jessica Parker is set to star in a brand new comedy drama entitled 'Divorce', with the 10-episode first season set to hit HBO this Fall according to the newly released teaser trailer. The actress shared a taste of the new show on her social media accounts.
Sarah Jessica Parker to star in HBO original series 'Divorce'
'Divorce' marks Parker's first return to HBO since 'Sex And The City' ended 12 years ago. The 2010 sequel was widely panned, but it did make a lot of money at the box office.
Sarah Jessica Parker showed that she really does have a great sense of humour during a recent appearance on Funny Or Die's 'Billy On The Street'. Chatting with host Billy Eichner on the streets of New York City, Parker spoke about the criticisms directed towards 2010 movie Sex And The City 2, which was widely panned by critics.
Sarah Jessica Parker has spoken about criticisms of SATC 2.
'When it came out it had a lot of criticism,' Billy said to Parker. 'That's what I understand. I didn't read it, but I gleaned from the look on people's faces,' the actress replied. 'I never understood it, I swear,' Billy continued.
Parker initially felt that the role would tie her down for too many years in one place, according to a colleague.
In a column for Playbill magazine on Wednesday (August 26th), actor Seth Rudesky, who worked with the 50 year old actress and her husband Matthew Broderick at a Broadway event, revealed that Parker “completely wanted to get out of it” when she learned that ‘SATC’ had been picked up by HBO.
Sarah Jessica Parker apparently wasn't too keen on 'Sex And The City' initially
Sarah Jessica Parker is still apologising to anger fans for posting an Instagram picture which fuelled ‘Sex and the City 3’ rumours.
Sex And The City fans were overjoyed when Sarah Jessica Parker posted a cryptic Instagram photograph with a caption which everyone, desperate for any glimmer of hope for a third movie, took to mean Sex and the City 3 was in the works. It wasn’t and, as far as we know, isn’t. SJP has been paying for her slip up ever since and has been forced to apologise to SATC fans on numerous occasions.
