Sarah Jessica Parker (born March 25th, 1965) is an American actress and producer, with a portfolio of television, film and theatre performances. She is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw, on the hit TV show Sex and the City.
Performing Career: As a young girl, Sarah Jessica Parker trained in singing and ballet, soon being cast in the Broadway production of The Innocents.
She and four siblings appeared in a revival of The Sound of Music, and Parker went on to the new Broadway musical Annie - first in the small role of "July" and then in the lead role, playing the role for a year.
In 1982, Sarah Jessica Parker was cast as the co-lead of the sitcom Square Pegs. The show lasted only one season before being cancelled, but Parker's performance was critically well-received. In the three years that followed, she was cast in four films - the most significant of those being Footloose in 1984 and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, co-starring Helen Hunt, in 1985.
In 1986, Parker appeared in the cult classic Flight of the Navigator, a Disney science fiction film.
By the early 1990s, Parker's career was gaining momentum. She appeared in L.A. Story, Honeymoon in Vegas, co-starring Nicolas Cage, Hocus Pocus and opposite Johnny Depp in the critically acclaimed movie Ed Wood.
Before the year 2000, Sarah Jessica Parker would later go on to feature in Miami Rhapsody, Mars Attacks!, The First Wives Club, The Substance of Fire and Til There Was You.
Sex and the City: In 1998, Sarah Jessica Parker landed a role on the TV show which would become an instant hit, seeing her profile soar overnight.
In 2004, Parker won an Emmy award for her lead role as Carrie Bradshaw (after five consecutive losses).
After Sex and the City ended in 2004, many thought rumours of a film would never leave fan sites and gossip columns, but in 2008, the film would be released and a sequel is potentially in the works.
Personal life: Parker was romantically involved with actor Robert Downey Jr. from 1984 until 1991. They met on the set of Firstborn.
On May 19th, 1997, she married actor Matthew Broderick.
The couple's first child, son James Wilkie Broderick, was born on October 28th, 2002. He was named after Broderick's father, the actor James Broderick. His middle name is that of author Wilkie Collins, an author Broderick and Parker admire.
E! News confirms that prior to her appearance at the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star, she had her signature mole removed. Regardless of photographic evidence, she denied it had been removed.
Sarah Jessica Parker has landed a top mum award as America prepares to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday (08May16).
The Sex & the City star collected the National Mother's Day Committee's 38th annual Outstanding Mother Award at The Pierre hotel in New York City on Thursday (05May16), and had a serious message for guests at the gala.
The actress began her acceptance speech by joking, "I, in no way think, this lovely gesture is based on merit," and then shone a light on America's struggling mums.
"When I began to ruminate about today, I kept thinking of all the millions and millions and millions of women, mothers, who don't have the support I have; who don't have the resources that allow for me to work with comfort and security outside the home; who, from day to day, don't have reliable childcare; who live paycheck to paycheck," she said, "and who maybe, most importantly, don't have the liberty I have to choose to work, never mind picking a job that excites them, or challenges them."

Sarah Jessica Parker didn't hang out with A-list stars such as Madonna and Beyonce at the 2016 Met Gala because she was "too shy".
The former Sex and the City star hit the red carpet on Monday (02May16) for the annual New York event and was surrounded by many celebrities, and although she is an acting veteran, she was still too nervous to leave her table and meet the big stars.
"I'm too shy," the 51-year-old actress said on SiriusXM radio show Just Jenny. "I'm the one person who doesn't get up from the table and mingle. I never do it... I had an interesting table and I felt pretty satisfied by those around me. I was with Grandmaster Flash, Stephen Colbert, Paul Rudd, Andrew Cohen... there were lots of interesting people... so I felt sated, I felt privileged."
Earlier in the week (begs02May16) she also defended her quirky Met Gala outfit; white cut-off trousers, white corset and frock coat, as many critics felt it didn't fit the Manus x MAChina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme.

Sarah Jessica Parker discovered her son had a dire peanut allergy after his babysitter fed him Chinese food leftovers.
The actress has become a spokesperson for Mylan's Anaphylaxis, an initiative set up to raise awareness about severe food allergies in kids, and she admits she had no idea her own son, James Wilkie, couldn't stomach peanuts until his minder took him to hospital.
"We learned about my son's peanut allergy when he was very, very young," she told Access Hollywood Live. "I was at the dentist and the babysitter rang and she told me that she had given him some of my leftover Chinese cold noodles... which have a very high concentrate of peanut.
"He seemed to be fine but she was very wisely gonna take him to the doctor. I spoke to him briefly. And she said by the time she hung up the phone she could tell that his breathing was laboured and his lips had swollen... and she could see his throat closing and she just threw him under her arm like a football and ran to the paediatrician, where they immediately recognised it as anaphylaxis response and treated it.

Sarah Jessica Parker Was So Similar To Her Tv Character Carrie Bradshaw In Sex And The City That Fans Often Confused The Two.
Parker, who played the role from 1998 to 2004 on the HBO show, said in a new interview in the Wall Street Journal that she found it hard to understand her character at times.
Carrie was a sex columnist living in New York, and because Parker also resides in the city, it led to many fans confusing her with the character.
"People probably don't realise that Carrie Bradshaw was radically different from who I was, who I continue to be," she says. "I think that sometimes because we look alike and live in the same city and haunt the same neighborhoods, that it was sort of like I was playing in the sandbox, when in truth it took real work every day to be her, to understand her, to not judge her."
