Singer Sarah Brightman claims she never liked appearing in musicals - despite being the leading star of London's West End stage in her ex-husband's sell-out shows.

Brightman made her name appearing in ANDREW LLOYD-WEBBER's massively popular CATS and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - but the 43-year-old says she found the whole experience uninspiring.

She explains, "I never really liked musicals. It's never been my thing. Andrew thought they were great but I always wanted to do my own thing."

Now Brightman wants to compose music herself - even if it means becoming a student again.

She says, "I need to do it, I have many sounds in my head and musical lines I want to play with. I would like to compose but I need to go back to school to learn orchestration. That takes time."
