British singer Sarah Brightman joined a line-up of mainly regional acts at the smaller-scale Live Earth Shanghai on Saturday (07Jul07). The 46-year-old was the best known attraction on an international level at the three hour Chinese concert, which was televised but had a live audience of just 3,000. The crowd sat on bleachers in front of the Oriental Pearl TV tower. Brightman was joined by pop stars from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Live Earth Shanghai organiser Wang Xin said, "The aim of the concert is to make more Chinese people realise the importance of environmental protection."
