Sara Ramirez is set to star in tonight's musical episode of Grey's Anatomy (30th March 2011).
Sara Ramirez, the Mexican-American actress and star of 'Grey's Anatomy', will take centre stage when the show airs its highly anticipated 'musical episode' tonight, reports TV Guide.com.Replacing the usual serious storylines, the cast of the medical drama will star in a "full blown musical", much in the same vein as the famous 'Scrubs' episode in 2007. However, instead of singing original songs, the Grey's cast will be singing well known hits by the likes of KT Tunstall and Gomez. Ramirez will tackle Brandi Carlile's 'The Story' and Chyler Leigh will sing Anna Nalick's hit 'Breathe'. 35-year-old Sara Ramirez is an accomplished singer, having won a Tony Award for her performance in 'Spamalot', however, the rest of the cast have taken vocal lessons for "weeks" in order to prepare for the episode.
Rumours of a musical episode began to circulate in November 2010. At the time the show's executive producer Shonda Rhimes said, "Nobody is going to be dancing and singing down the halls; that's not our show. Our show is known for its music. I very much wanted to do something that was musical without being a musical".
