The culinary star, the longtime partner of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, went public with her early stage breast cancer diagnosis in May (15) and subsequently went under the knife to avoid radiotherapy treatment.
She struggled with an infection which required another operation last month (Aug15), but now Lee has revealed she has beaten the disease and she credits early detection for her health victory.
Sharing the good news on Tuesday (22Sep15), the 49 year old told U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America, "I am cancer-free and ready to go."

The 48 year old underwent the operation in May (15) after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she fell ill earlier this month (Aug15) after developing a painful fluid build-up due to an infection.
She had to undergo another procedure to fix the problem, and she was discharged from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City on Wednesday (12Aug15).
A message posted on her Facebook.com page prior to her release states, "We visited Sandra in the hospital this morning and we're happy to share she seems to be back to herself... She must stay on massive antibiotics for a couple of weeks to fight against infection... But... we're happy because we think she's won the match!... We just want to thank you for your outpouring of love, prayers and well wishes."

Lee, famous for her ‘semi-homemade cooking’, first revealed her diagnosis to the world on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Good Morning America’. She said that she discovered her condition, confirmed as DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) when she underwent a routine mammogram back in March, and is preparing for surgery in order to avoid the alternative treatment, a gruelling six to eight week course of radiotherapy.
