Sandra Bullock has brushed off reports she has a vendetta against her husband Jesse James' ex-wife, insisting she's not trying to end the porn star's relationship with her daughter.
James and Bullock were given primary custody of six-year-old daughter Sunny when her mother, Janine Lindemulder, was jailed on tax evasion charges last year (09).
Lindemulder has been fighting to get custody rights back ever since her release, and, in court last month (Jan10), a judge expanded her visitation rights, allowing her to make daily phone calls to her child.
Now Bullock has opened up about the awkward family situation, admitting it's sad but she isn't fighting for custody of Sunny as a vendetta against Lindemulder - she just wants what is best for her stepdaughter.
She says, "The fight is a sad fight. I'm hoping that at the end of this journey there will just be care, safety and harmony. There's not a quest to take her (Sunny) away (from Lindemulder). There's a quest for safety and evenness on both sides.
"I married someone who loves me just the way I am. Now my greatest joy is being a good wife and a good stepmum."
The family drama has overshadowed the awards season for Bullock, who is among the favourites to land an Oscar for her role as a mum who takes in a homeless teenager in The Blind Side.
Bullock could become the first actress to win both an Oscar and a Golden Raspberry Award in the same year, if she claims gold at the Academy Awards on Sunday night (07Mar10). She was dishonoured as the Worst Actress of the Year at the Razzies for All About Steve on Saturday (06Mar10) - and actually turned up at the event to collect her award.
