Rap mogul SEAN 'P DIDDY' COMBS chose a bizarre method to get into character for his Broadway role - buying cheap underwear.

In A Raisin in the Sun, Combs stars opposite Sanaa Lathan, Phylicia Rashad and Audra McDonald, playing WALTER LEE YOUNGER, a character which SIDNEY POITIER portrayed in the original 1950s version of the play.

And Combs took extreme measures to ensure he felt close to his struggling character.

He says, "Being that I had the least experience (of the cast), I had to make sure I (took) extra precautions to stay in character. I would make sure everybody called me Walter Lee, I would go to the drug store and just buy regular, cheap underwear.

"I just felt from head to toe, I wanted to live the life that this man was living in 1959. I love cheap underwear!

"I can relate to this man chasing his dream and it's a dream come true to see historically diverse audiences come to Broadway that wouldn't normally be on Broadway."
