The stars talk geek at Comic-Con 2013
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was one of the many geek franchises to enjoy Comic-Con this weekend. The film’s stars, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson were happy to talk about the film, although Jackson was more interested in chatting Comic-Con than anything else.
“I love the fact that we have a part of our culture here today that doesn't represent violence and decadence and whatever”, he says, talking about the Comic-Con atmosphere. “It's just kids who enjoy movies, who enjoy comics, who enjoy the simpler things in life like story-telling and interesting characters and they're not afraid or ashamed to dress as those characters and interact with each other.”
Chris Evans as Captain America
Evans and Johansson were more disciplined, and talked about the upcoming sequel to the 2011 movie. “I was excited to see the 'Capt. 2' footage 'cause I haven't actually seen anything completed yet so it was exciting to be able to introduce that to the fans and then also to experience it ourselves”, says Scarlett. “They're real fans. These movies wouldn't get made without this existing fanbase”, Chris adds. “Being able to share it with the people who truly are passionate about this property is exciting.”
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due for released on April 4th 2014. The 2011 movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, managed to translate the franchise onto the modern movie screen well, with a nice rating of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, followed up by a solid box office performance.
