Firefighters were called to Sammy Kershaw's home in Louisiana on Thursday (04Apr13) after a fire broke out in the country singer's kitchen.
The I Can't Reach Her Anymore hitmaker was away from the Lafayette property when the blaze broke out and was alerted to the drama by his alarm company.
He returned home and attempted to smother the flames before firefighters arrived on the scene.
In a statement, obtained by NashvilleGab.com, Kershaw writes, "You've got to count your blessings... every one of them. This could have been so much worse. The guardian angel that God assigned to me is always working overtime."
Kershaw previously escaped serious injury in November (12) after his tour bus was involved in a bad accident.
