British actress Samantha Morton refused to watch movies at the start of her career - because she worried she would subconsciously "mimic" other stars in her own work.
The Minority Report star took up acting as a child, making several guest appearances on TV shows in the U.K.
But she forbid herself from checking out fellow actors' performances onscreen in a bid to avoid copying her peers.
Morton tells Total Film magazine, "I've changed now, but when I was 18 I made this decision that I was never going to watch a film. Didn't matter who it was by. Because I might copy other actors, even subconsciously. And I didn't want to be a mimic. I just wanted to be truly original."
