Sam Smith has only ''2 more sleeps'' until he can speak again.

The 23-year-old star underwent surgery on his vocal cords last month and having subsequently been ordered not to speak, Sam is anxious to say his first words in the coming hours.

The 'Stay With Me' hitmaker tweeted yesterday (01.06.15): ''2 more sleeps till I can speak for the first time in 3 weeks.

''My first words shall be 'F**k me that was s**t' (sic).''

Since undergoing surgery in the US, Sam has been using a female voice app that sounds similar to Professor Stephen Hawking's speaking device to communicate.

The London-born singer downloaded the software so he can still engage with his friends and family because of the surgical procedure he was forced to go undergo to to save his voice.

The news was revealed by Sam's producer Jimmy Napes, who assured the singer's fans he was making a good recovery.

Jimmy revealed: ''He's doing well, he's resting up. He's got an app that speaks for him and it's like Stephen Hawking, where you type something in, except it's in a girls' voice - which is hilarious.''

The producer also joked that the voice app may even make an appearance on Sam's next record.

He quipped: ''It might be a little outtake on the new album.''
